The new Crytek Cryengine 3 tech demo has been released. It supports Directx11, better water effects, real-time tessellation and rendering, and a ton of other goodies for an improved gameplay experience. Supposedly the engine will provide seemless visuals between cutscenes and gameplay. While it’s stated that the engine is already PS3 and Xbox 360 ready, you and I both know that it’s PS4 and Xbox 720 ready. Will the PS4 support DirectX 11 though? Here’s what Crytek had to say about the new features:
Now, with DirectX 11 support, real-time rendering has gotten even better, allowing for some of the best visuals ever seen. With CryENGINE®3, what you see is what you play as the new tools for the engine allow for tessellation in real-time, improved ocean and water rendering, enhanced character technology, and dynamic volumetric light beams and light shaft effects. These new tools can be appreciated in the beautiful visuals of Crysis 3, from the lush environments and lighting effects, to the detailed characters.
