As we all know by now, Sony has ceased production of its insanely popular Sony Playstation 2 console. In honor of this mighty system we recorded a special edition episode of The Throwdown. I don’t know just listen…
STFUandPLAY 2012 Holiday Special Podcast #1: Top 10 Favorite Anime Series
A few weeks ago, we were asked if STFUandPLAY would ever do an anime podcast. At the time we said that we couldn’t because we have limited resources to do another weekly show (time and money). Later that week, Tor thought it’d be a great idea to make a post where we listed our top ten favorite anime. Rikuson1 and I were on board with this.
A few days after that, I was thinking about how there’d be no Throwdown or Warzone* episodes during the holidays and that we should do something to fill that void. That’s when it came to me; let’s do a podcast of our top 10 favorite anime movies and TV series. I tossed this idea at Riku and the big man and they were down for it.
The original plan was to record a single podcast where we listed our favorite movies and TV shows. This idea eventually evolved into having two podcasts since we could easily split the recording we were going to do into two parts. One part would be posted on Christmas Day and the other on New Year’s Day. After recording this for nearly three hours, we decided to record the next show separately on another night. Originally we were going to each list our top ten shows and when one guy was finished the next guy would list his top ten. Rikuson1 thought it’d be better if we started with a number, each of us would then talk about our pick and then we’d go to the next number. Tor started throwing in honorable mentions which opened to the door for Riku and me to do the same. All of these last minute changes and additions made for a much stronger podcast than we had originally envisioned.
This was a really fun podcast to record and we all learned a lot. Fuck buying video games for the holidays, we’re all buying anime now. I’m sure you guys will feel the same way after hearing this show.
Anyway, merry Christmas to all of our fans and we hope you enjoy this podcast. Remember to check back next week on New Year’s Day for the top 10 anime movie podcast. Also, don’t forget to send us your suggestions for the title of our upcoming monthly anime podcast which will premiere sometime in mid/late January. *There WILL be a Warzone this AND next week. When we recorded this show two weeks ago I was under the assumption that the WZ, like The Throwdown was going on hiatus for the holidays.
